LAHORE GIRL. 17, KILL BY HER OWN MOTHER AGAINST FAMILY WISHES

Chief Minister Punjab has taken notice of the incident and has sought a report from CCPO Lahore PHOTO: REUTERS

Different country, differ tradition and culture. We ought not to justify with our own shoes. It might be against human right in our country but it is right in certain tradition and culture.
We feel very sad to hear the killing of her own daughter caused against family's choise for her couple.

A woman in Pakistan burned her 17-year-old daughter alive on Wednesday to punish her for marrying against the family's wishes, the latest in a series of so-called "honor killings" that claim the lives of nearly 1,000 women every year in the conservative Muslim country.

Zeenat Rafiq's mother, Parveen, tied her to a cot and drenched her with kerosene before lighting her on fire. Neighbors in the congested, working-class neighborhood in the eastern city of Lahore came running when they heard the screams, but family members kept them from entering the house. The police eventually arrived and found the charred body near a staircase. They arrested the mother soon thereafter. The woman saying "I don't have any regrets."

The victim's husband, Hassan Khan, told that the two had been "in love since our school days" but the family had rejected several marriage proposals, forcing them to elope last month. He showed an affidavit of consent signed by his wife before a magistrate. He also showed cellphone photos of a smiling Zeenat wearing a red dress.

Hundreds of women are killed every year in Pakistan -- often by their own family members -- for violating the country's conservative norms regarding love and marriage. Sex outside of marriage is seen by conservative Pakistanis as a stain on the honor of the woman's entire family, one that can only be removed by killing her.

Killing ow daughter who against family wishes are against the law in Pakistan but tradition and culture kept maintain for the honor of the family.

In Indonesia, a biggest Moslem country in the World, girls free to marry her soulmate after spend some time in loving relationship before the man propose to the girl's family.

DELIVERY COST Rp. 11.700.000 OR US $ 867 IN INDONESIA IS REASONABLE

Delivery cost all across Indonesia archipelago relatively affordable based on family's income, either in the city or in country sides. US $ 867 is delivery in the big cities like Jakarta or outskirt of the capital like Bogor, Depok, Tangerang and Bekasi or in the capital city of provinces, where good hospital available. The cost are for cesar operation served in 1st class hospital room and specialist doctor. Generally speaking, Indonesian take care by the Government.

Jonas Situmeang

Citizen who lived in the big cities and belong to medium and high class can afford such cost, or maybe pay by their insurance or by the companies. But for citizen in the bracket of medium to low income, BPJS or Government insurance company will pay the cost, even more after President Jokowi took office at the end of 2014.

Interesting to know that delivery by home nurses at home just below Rp 2 million. In medium class private hospital about Rp 5 million. Local Government hospitals are free, paid by BPJS, Government insurance company.
So where to be delivery depend on the wallet of the parents, in high class, medium hospitals, in local Government hospital or just the old way, the home nurses come to our house.

I write this topic after saw a big advertisement in front of a big hospital in Jakarta and then asked my face book friends. They all responded that the costs are reasonable. Even more, the couple previously  be ready for expecting a new baby in to the family.

For certain tribes expecting new baby boy in the family just like Chinese and Batak. Many children without a boy, something missing. The old cultures still kept tight in several tribes, like any gender discrimination. Even the family had 2 sweet baby girls, they still expecting more then 1 baby boy.

Anyway, Indonesia with 250 million citizen are very big population and Government work very hard to feed them. Let us back to the old family planning, have 2 children are more then enough, for the sake of the future of our nation welfare.

KEMISKINANAN DI KAMPUNG REJANG LEBONG PENYEBAB PEMERKOSAAN

KEMISKINAN, TIDAK SEKOLAH, TUAK, FILM PORNO DI REJANG LEBONG, BENGKULU
DSCI1039

WISH TO BE A PILOT

This year 2016, Antonia Jones, 17 year would be graduated from Jakarta Senior high school  and hunting what Universities should be apply at. Her school group went to Bandung, West Java and Karawaci, out skirt of Jakarta to see some Universities there. She also went to Education fair in Jakarta many University from over seas and local offer variety of faculties.

Even Senior high school not yet graduated in 2016 but many private Universities held admit tests while State Universities keep waiting until graduation some time in June 2016.
Antonia had passed test in Atmajaya University, a good one in Industrial technique faculty and entry fee paid accordingly.

After graduation in June 2016, Antonia will admit to one State University, either in Jakarta or in Bandung, West Java. If she passed the test in State University then entry fee from private University could reimburse but not 100% just 75%. It was unfair system in Indonesia education.

For long she intend to be enter Flying school either in Indonesia or in Florida, USA since she was born in Los Angeles. But the fee to be a pilot very costly. In Bali island, in Curug, Tangerang city about Rp 600 million equivalent to US$ 42.853 almost the same in Florida.

Her mom, a single parent can't afford such high cost. We are, her grandpa might be help if our property sold later if economic situation get better then recently, oil price down under $ 30,/barrel, China economic went down and The Fed, US Central Bank would rise the interest rate.

I encourage her to study first in University hopefully her dream to be a pilot may come true later even after she graduated from University. Hopefully.

OH MY GOD, MY HOME ALMOST LIQUIDATED

                       Reach Stacker

Whenever black phone at home ring at the end of 1997/beginning 1998, my heart and my beloved wife beat harder, if it is coming from a Bank or a Leasing company asking for payment or installment monthly basis.
Our  company unable to pay both over due obligations on time since Tsunami waves hitted Asian economy, Indonesia was the most misery. Exchange rate jump high 6 times, from Rp.2.500,-/US.$ became Rp. 15.000,-

Most companies can't afford to import goods in such high rate, then our Stackers stop operation, since no any Containers to be handle in the port, where our Stackers mobile rented.

I worked in rental bussiness, after 21 years working in a big State own Bank with high pay check. I took high risk to leaved this 2nd best Bank in the country, after see the opportunity, retired early in relatively not too old, 49,  and then set up a new family company, back then in 1995.

When start our own office, what the first priority was knocking the doors of the Bank and Leasing companies. The 1st and 2nd door turn our application down cause the company was relatively new. The 3rd door, Japan - Indonesian joint venture company awarded us  Investment loan agreement for almost US $ 1 million, exactly US$ 968.000 to import 2 units Reach Stackers mobile from Finland. The loan is for 5 years period monthly basis installment.

The Reach Stacker is a mobile crane 4 wheel drive, able to reach and stack up to 6 levels of Container and carry maximum 60 tons of 40 feet Container. These Stackers used for Containers handling only, as photo above.

The 4rd door of a Bank also open based on my collateral, my house, the value could covered  working capital loan for US.$ 100.000 for one year period. Beside the Branch manager knew me well, he was my staff a decade earlier in Central Java when I was a Bank Branch manager too.

Now my status change drastically, change 180 degree from a lender, Deputy General manager become a borrower, a costumer, what the tension look like.

                              Me (seated) and the Bankers

Initially, we prepare a new family company will be lead by my wife, before I enter retirement period in 55 years old. But by working around the clock loading and unloading the ships and other activities, it is too hard for her. No other way for me execpt to request early retire from the Bank in 49 years.

I leaved behind nice ties and cool office room in high rise building in prime location in the Capital of Indonesia, Jakarta, working from 8 to 5 and now working sweating under the sky with blue jean and T shirt in busy port with my wife to supervized the operation around the clock even we installed radio on the Stackers mobile, supervisors, on my car and at home as the office, around 5 miles away from the port.

Almost everyday and night we spend much time in sunny day or cool after midnight supervized directly in the port. Some other time we awake till dawn to help repairing to fixed it faster in order to prevent  penalty for not in operation hourly basis. So the time is money.
My hand used to be working in clean environment, paper work related to Financial world, now read technical manual, handling toolkits with oily hands.

Struggling to pay monthly installment, personnel and tax in 2 and half years. Total value installment to the Leasing company are 30 times @ US$ 20.000,- vanished if we fail to pay the rest of obligation, 30 months to go.

Many big corporations and Banks collapsed at the time of crisis, unable to pay their debt. The debt was in US.$ but the revenue was in Indonesia Rupiah. In decade of 1990s, it was common practice to place one page  adverticement in daily Newspaper if they sign a big loan in US.$ from overseas. Soon after the crisis, some bad conglomerates runaway, leaved the country, leaving the big projects in chaos or let their Banks liquidated by the Goverment.

Our operation in the sea port of Jakarta stopped dead but the leasing company never stop calling or visitted asking for installment due, without any concern whatsoever of economic crisis. We rejected to pay from other sources, so our installment become over due or arrears.

15 personnels come to the office sobbing, but  fully understood the condition and accepted lay off decision, since no more cash income, no more Containers to handle.

Meanwhile Bank send 3 reprimand letters to inform that our home sweet home - where we lived - used as a collateral, now treated to be liquidated soon to repay the loan, also over due. The tension so high, some nights insomnia, couldn't fall asleep at all.

While lay in bed at night imagine how misery we are if we loose the case in the court, our reputable name will ruin by sell our house (2 floors, 4 garages, green garden with waterfall) then rent a simple one in the suburb of Jakarta.

In the same time, Leasing company treated to withdraw back the two Stackers if we can't pay monthly installment due, even we paid 3 years installment always on time, before the crisis. From legal point of view, the hardwares are belong to them. The machines switching become ours after we pad it off.

In one early sunny afternoon my tears drop when  the huge 4 whell drive slowly leaving me and my wife stunned, remembering 3 of my kids studying in United State have to going home or stand on their own. Because we are can't afford to transfer funds for their tuition fee and cost of living. For a while they working full time and stop studying. The oldest boy worked in a gas station, a girl in handycraft store and the youngest boy in a wharehouse.

Meanwhile the contract signed with the port authority for 2 years, cut off become one year only, since no import goods in the Containers to be handling. Fortunately, contract say that the port authority no right to cut off the contract in between and they have to pay monthly basis, because economic crisis is not our fault and in the contract not mention at all about the economic crisis as no one predicted beforehand.

We treat port authority officials for lunch and beg to settle the case peacefully, to negotiated to pay us half of the remain contract. We will use the funds to pay the Bank to prevent our house liquidated.

But they reject to pay and say :" You saw in the port no Container in the yard to be handle, so we are unable to pay you a dime", they assumed we are a new, small company, facing Giant port authority, Goverment own company. We ask them permission to take the case to the court. A finance Director just smile and said :"Go ahead".

So we took the case to the court. Tired going back and forth to the court for 2 years process, ultimately we win the case and the port have to pay us signifant value, 1 year rent, doing nothing.

In panic to afford the family, while waiting long proces in the court, we buy a special car for food stahl parked in road side to serve office staff around the blocks served by my beloved one, wife and kids. Beside, we earn our pension fund very small, around 25% from my pay check before retired. Remembered back how our status switching from a Banker to rental company, become a small bussines, food mobile stahl.

Simultaneously, we negotiated with the Bank not to liquidated our house and give us more time, while hoping for the best, waiting for the court in process. Feel relieved, the Branch manager fully understood the condition and request more time to Bank head office.

As soon as we win the case, instantly we run to the Bank to paid off the loan balance. Then loan to the Leasing company automatically paid off if we agree to let the Stackers go, withdraw by them.

From financial point of view, our reputable name - including wife and children - still clean, not included in "The Black list" of the Central Bank, mean that we may access to finance institutions any time later.

All our effort in the court, high tension, my kids stop studying, all our tears also paid off after the port hand over a big Bank's cheque as value of a year rent doing nothing.

The crisis is over, start a new life enjoy retired time in 54 years old and see my 3 kids back to our home sweet home,  buy 3 brand new cars for them to drive to extend their study in Jakarta University till graduated.

I am not regret to retired young. This case will encourage us facing any difficulties lay ahead, convince myself not run away from any problem in life.

The message is clear that do not worry to grasp the opportunity, cause the opportunity come so fast, work hard and smart, do by the book or contract. Bussines risk is there we couldn't run away but face it wisely.

COINCIDENCE, MET THE SAME TRIBE IN SOUTH CALIFORNIA

peggy, no.2 from left and family

"Pap I met a class mate with the same family name", my daughter Peggy Lidya Situmeang said, wondering how coinsidence met Robin Situmeang at Colton high school, Southern California. She just transferred from Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia.

Before find out who Robin Situmeang is, call coming from Robin's father,  said: "Please come for dinner", he insisted. Eager to know who are really this American with Situmeang family name, we spend a night for chatt with this new family.

In the middle of hot and spicy foods, John Situmeang, the host open up a thick wide white paper with family tree structure of big Situmeang family from the first generation till to 14th. Our fingers pin point to the same anchestors from the 1st generation, Jamita Mangaraja Situmeang, till 6th generation.

The 6th, Guru Lippun Situmeang had tree children, 1. Ompu Mangaranap Situmeang, 2. Ompu Lenggang Situmeang and 3. Ompu Sangganiaji Situmeang. My anchestor is the youngest and John's ancestor is no.2.

      pino
Now here we are from 7 to 13th generation with differ family tree but still link in solid bond. I call John as big brother since his ancestor older then mine even we are in the same level, 13th. My daughter Peggy, no.14, call John as old father, 13th.

Since then 3 of my children who study in South California had extend family in USA to talk to in case of emergency or at least to taste hot and spicy Oriental foods. While we are stay far away in South East Asia, Indonesia.

Now around South California  alone  many descendant of Situmeang generation 13 - 15. January 2009 at least 50 people gathered in a
year celebration including children and mix couples at Lomalinda city.

Thousands Situmeang descendant, originally born and lived in the South of Toba Lake, North Sumatra, now scattered across Indonesia archipelago and all over the world bonding in solid  Family tree.

The first question asked if a person meet each other in Situmeang family is :"What is your number ?" The answer is to make clear who is the older, beyond the age.

GOD EXTENDED MY BREATH, ANNIVERSARY IN RECOVERY

This year 2012 is a special day for  me in my birthday August 15 when my condition still weak, in recovery proces after tree weeks hospitalized in North Jakarta International hospital. My children and son in law, Moeslichs, Peggy, Pahalas and 3 grandchildren gathered at home and sing Happy Birthday over a deli cake prepare by my oldest daughter Vera.

Today, August 17 my family will celebrate again in a lunch along with  2 my grand children, Antonia Jones who born at August 17, 1998 in Los Angeles and  with Jonas Situmeang, 3 year, who postponed his celebration July 3, since I was in the hospital. Jonas cheer up with his number 3 candle over a deli cake. He eat up a lot as his sibling Tobias as they familiar with the American menu taste.

A funny thing happened and everybody laughing when our nurse, Umar, a new comer in town from the Java village, confusing to choose so many kind of foods and never saw or eat such menu before.

Even I try the lunch at the court food, but my children preferred in Sisler, American Resto at Kelapa Gading, Jakarta, cause 3 of us celebrate together and the bills at their own pocket, Peggy and Pahala.
I couldn't walk stable and seat over a wheel  chair, but my children wish to appreciate their father.

At night all family members gathered again - without me - to celebrate Antonia Jones and David Sitorus who born at August 16 at Sitorus house. David is the son of Cherly Pangaribuan, my wife little sister. They cook at their own houses and take to the host house and dine together various kind of foods.

FATHERS DAY, THE BEST MOMENT TO SAY THANKS

F A T H E R S  D A Y
Today, monday, June 21, 2011 is a Fathers day. This morning unexpectedly I got a message in my Facebook account from my son Monang, resided in South California said : "hi pap, we are celebrating a father's day today here, thinking of you this day for making me of what I am today, just wanna thank you and wishing a great blessed day. Love you!!! I missed everyone back home".

This is the 1st time ever got a message since it was not our tradition yet in Indonesia to say Happy Fathers day. How I feel ? I am very glad that my son remembered what Father had been done so far to my family.

                                Mini Bus, opelet driver
I saved a lot to make it happened sent him overseas study and decided stay with his wife in State. The saving from my first job as bank employee and second from my own business

At the same day I paid attention to 3 (tree) comments on Face book friends, that appreciated their Dad function as well.

Sherly Kilapong statement make my heart melted  :
No matter how old I get, no matter how often I stay out with friends, no matter how far I move away with my beloved one, no matter how many children I have later, no matter how many grandchildren I will have....Daddy, I will still be your little girl! I love you more than the world will ever know!! You are my friend, my hero, but most importantly you are my...Daddy Happy Fathers Day, Papa.... miss u so much

                                                    Sweating Daddy

Aditya Sylvana offened his opinion by saying :
My late Father was my best friend, my wisest counselor, my guide. Every Fathers Day I miss him so much...I can tell that you are a great father too. My heartfelt Happy Father's Day to you, amang. Many happy returns.

I had a friend in State that his wife's job position more than her husband, and her working days longer too, then her husband spend the times to take care of the children. What about that.

Elly Kurnia Andangsari said :
Most opinion tend to appreciated mother's function than Fathers in Children education, but Fathers contribution were so significant beyond finance responsibility. Just like my beautiful face and my character mostly come down from my father. Happy belated father's day.

                                Work over time

By accident, few days later, I read a Note of Vhie Simanjuntak, my family resided in Abu Dhaby saw her love to her Dad writing a sad poem as follows :

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY
by Vhie Simanjuntak on Sunday, June 19, 2011

Dear Dad.......Did I ever say thanks for.................

all the toys you mended games we played outings to the park and the ways you always tried to cheer me when I was down?

The sacrifices you made so I could be involved in so many enriching to provide for activities?

For working sohard to provide for our family?

For having so much faith in me and always being there when I needed you?

Most of all did I ever say thanks for caring?

∙DAD I LOVE U & HAPPY FATHER'S DAY∙

Hopefully the west tradition of Fathers day would be treated similar with Valentine day to saw appreciation to what Dad had been doing so far, responsible to feed entire family by not forgetting the sacrificing being a mother that had been celebrated in either in Mothers day and in Kartini day.

TESTIMONI OF MY "BIOGRAPHY BANKIR RAKYAT" SOME FRIENDS BY NEVER MET

Tangis meninggalkan Belawan

Terima kasih banyak atas testimoninya.

1.Nia Erni Miha Balo, Tangerang

2.Bikson Pasaribu, Duri, Riau

Well written and congratulations, Ma Woke

4. Demak Sitompul, Surabaya *)

Seorang Bankir Rakyat yg smart, multi talent, low profile, wise.

5. Rina Barus SH.MKn,  Medan

Membaca perjalanan hidup anak saudagar dr desa Sitahuis , Sibolga ini sungguh menarik. Mempunyai karakter yg kuat ,cerdas, berani mengambil keputusan sekaligus menerima konsekwensinya yg merupakan ciri khas seorg pemimpin.

Tdk mudah puas atas pencapaian yg diperoleh dan menyukai tantangan dibuktikan dgn memutuskan mengundurkan diri sbg manager di pabrik karet di Rantau Prapat dan memulai karir sbg pegawai bank plat merah dan berhasil menduduki karir sbg Kepala Cabang Bank dan kemudian memutuskan mengundurkan diri dan memulai usaha rental Stacker Container. Suatu keputusan yg sangat berani bahkan cenderung nekat.

Everybody had a special memory – a sweet one – of the first time ever in a special occasion in a whole life. Some time come flash in our mind when lay down on bed, alone, watching Television or heard a special, old songs. It is interesting to writing it down, may entertaining you and the readers as well.
All special memories set in chronological order formed the colorful milestones as my Life Journey

I wish to share mine, make me wondered and amused too that it had been happened in my Life. Some of these experiences had been written down in my Biography book, 2008 edition or in the Blog www.jingga-senja.blogspot.com. Now I want to specify each one in one special topic.

FIRST KISS

When I was in the last year of Junior Economic high school at Sibolga town, North Sumatra, I had a close friend,  in the same school, my junior class, a black sweet girl, shorter then me. When I returned home from high school holiday outside of town in 1960, I visit her one early weekend at her home across the river of my home.

When the time to say  good bye, she saw me the way in the dark, till to the edge of the river. Suddenly, I was stunned when my lips touched by hers, just for a second. She was shorter, she had to hold me to reach my mouth. The initiative come from her, not me anyway.

I was shocked when met her again 28 years later in 1988, she was one of our guests when my family had a  big traditional banquet at my home across the river. She said :”Did you knew me?”, she said. I just smile.
It was happened in 1960 when I was 17 years of age.

DID YOU AWARE THAT HIGH INTEREST OF CREDIT CARD ???

In globalisation era having Credit card isn't a luxurious life style any more, but is a need. Going out every day avoid to take along a bundle of  cash bills.
Modern living tend to more cashless society when buying or apply for some services we have to saw or tell our Credit card number or you may turn down to serve.
Everyday we get so many offers to become a Credit card member and with free membership fee to enable us to buy goods or services with a very low monthly  installments without awareness of a very high interest rate. Even more we tend to pay a minimum installment , keep the balance stay high and we have obliged to charged with high interest rate.

To avoid such behavior, to avoid pay high interest burden, try your best to pay as much as you can or paid it off, so the interest pay far less. With this way, we take advantage to use Credit card and the Bank to help our need not the other way around.

Especially for women, they tend  tempted to show off in their peer or social community. But soon after get a pay check, most part of the income goes to pay Credit card. Consequently, a spouse come up to hot argue of spending beyond needs.
In west culture, weekend from Friday to Sunday evening it was culture hang out with family or friends, have dinner at the restaurants and all pay by slash a Credit Card. Not only whites citizen but also Asian or African American who used to cook their meal at home. Recently, they influenced by environment to hang out and dinner out side and then charged to their Cards.
I read once long time ago in Readers Digest magazine, that Korean or Bangladesh American usually take advantage and used the Card for business transactions only and in a very short time paid it off immediately to zero balance without paying any interest. This two groups run a lots of small business across America and using simple cars as well, they are really a smart people.

Recently, many young executives apply for too many cards and assume that would increase their social status in their community. Remember that when we hold so many cards, we would tempted to use it beyond our needs or at least  we have to pay a minimum year membership's fee.
Another issues lately that make life inconvenience is the telephone or mobile phone ringing all the time if we pay late or a Bank hire a Collector company to run after us whenever we didn't pay on time. Sometime the Bank talk to whoever answer the phone, they never take to account if the receiver have nothing to do with the card business. The collector mean to embarrass the card holder and to pay the card immediately

So be wise using Credit Card. . .

POEM A BIG DAY WITHOUT MOM WHO HOSPITALIZED

Cloudy quiet morning
Step up solemnly to the altar
Witness by God and loving families
Entering a bright new life
Approaching Christmas season

A vacant chair beside a sad father
Sob, tears overflow the handkerchief
Mother lying in hospital white sheet
Who longing this special wedding
Of only, eldest, grown  beloved son

All chairs occupied in a ball room
Scarves covered both shoulders by me alone
Symbol of love and united
Father can't hold the tears not to shed

Before the sunset, enter a new home
Welcome a new spouse alone
No mom's hug and kissing
Makes the eyes blur, wet cheeks

Father, family and new spouse
Gather for long prayers
Begging for mom relieve soon
To complete the happy atmosphere

JAWABAN DOA MAMA
(INDONESIA)
Semua berdiri dalam hening sunyi
Mata Ayah diusap tak henti
Karena Ibu terbaring diatas seprei putih
Ketika Pendeta menasbih jadi suami istri
Saat indah yang lama dinanti

Sapu tangan biru diusap tak henti
Ketika selendang ulos disandangkan
Dibahu anak dan menantu yg lama ditunggu
Marga keluarga dan ummat jadi saksi

Matanya nanar melihat foto sejoli
Dibisikkan "mama" didaun telinga
Mulut komat kamit menyebut nama
Menggelengkan kepala, entah siapa

Asupan makan melalui selang panjang
Buangan ditampung disamping badan
Tiga hari minggu tergolek lemah
Tuhan, mohon pulihkan mama

Dua minggu dirawat dirumah
Gerak mata dan mulut penuh makna
Duduk, melangkah tertatah tatah
Senyum dikulum bersama menantu
Jawaban doa yang lama ditunggu

HITTING BY A CAR BUT THANK GOD I WAS SAVE

If you won’t bad things happened to your life, be careful don’t ever did a bad things to others as well. It  was instantly came cross in my mind after a car hit my bike and I  rolling down over black asphalt one Sunday morning, October 24, 2010 at 8.30. Thanks God, I just got a small bruised in my left ankle and my left palm.

Shocked by the hitting, I shout loud, augghhhh……when I catapulted off my bike saddle. My sound still clear in my mind till today, 4 days later, when I wrote down this topic. Actually I drove slowly since so many cars parking in left sides of the road, as usually every Sunday morning, just between my church and Gunung Agung book store, at Kwitang, central Jakarta..

I had no idea why the car driver, a grown man carelessly and hit me when I sifted to the right lane, since the left lane occupied by a lots of cars parking.

The car owner step down, approached me say sorry and I refused when he handed me over  2 bills @ Rp. 10.000 ,- . Unbelievable, just such a value of human being. He didn’t think my body ache few days later or going to check up to the hospital or cancel all my activities caused by the accident ?

I didn’t argue the case, didn’t go to the police either after I make a short checking, found out that the back rims/frame unbalanced and can’t run smoothly. I walked down along my bike for a mile to Monas garden, where an old man run a temporary bike’s workshop. He spent 20 minutes for readjusting the every single of the fingers of the frames just for Rp. 10.000

I posted this case in Face book early Sunday afternoon when I reached home save and sound.. Some of my friends happened read mine , worry, asking how is happened and how is my condition, some just click I like it. Below  the list of my friends:

  1. Naning at Ciracas, East Jakarta
  2. Novitha Panjaitan, Ngabang, west Kalimantan
  3. Gokma Ria Situmorang, Bekasi, west Java
  4. Nia Erni Miha Balo, Tangerang , Banten
  5. Endang Pui, Purwokerto, Central Java
  6. Nana Juliana, Perrt, Australia
  7. Eny Susiol, Bandung, west Java
  8. Eii Sherly, Jakarta
  9. Diaz Diori, Bandung, west Java
  10. Woro Sudarwati, Jatimurni, Bekasi
  11. Nova Lubis, Timika, Papua
  12. Widiatuti Wijono, Cawang, east Jakarta
I spend a while thinking and made a short reflection, ultimately came up to several thoughts :
  • As an activist, I leaved the church services that I jointed regularly, especially on Sunday a whole day. This cases become a question :”Is this God reprimand ?” Even my head saved by a helm, but I think only God be able to save and extend my life, because  He loved me
  • Now I realized what the feeling and anger was being hit by a car as what happened when  I hit a young girls 2 years ago and hospitalized.
  • If the similar happened again just go to the police to handle the case
  • Is it a right choice to continue this kind of sport, in my senior age
  • 8 years ago a similar case happened in dawn Friday, when a motor bike hit the same, red bike and run away. The young Madura iron scrapes shops a long the road, in between Kelapa Gading traffic light and a gas station - helped drive me with his motor bike to the emergency room hospital, closed by for treatment
Jakarta traffic is one of  the worst in the world, so we should take a careful while we are on the road, especially on the main and busy road. Always take a left side and follow every traffic signs available

AJUSTING TO LOCAL CULTURES, PALEMBANG SURPRISE

Life envinroment, cultures in the big cities and small towns are differ from one place to another. Lived in Jakarta metropolitan city with multi ethnics, fast moving citizen, individualism, may be differ compare to a smaller cities, towns and we will find out interesting or surprising experiences.

My surprising experiences in Palembang nothing to do with Empek empek, a special deli Palembang cuisine, Musi river current or well known Ampera bridge, Palembang city icon. My new experiences talking about culture and people character..

In 2002, I spend a week as a Bank SUMSEL consultant in IT at Palembang, South Sumatra capital and stayed at the Hotel downtown Palembang city. On early morning Sunday, I intend to  visit my relative, but unfortunately, the address and phone number leaved at home in Jakarta. Instantly, I search in a Palembang phone book at my room, but couldn’t find it.

I made my mind to pick up and dial somebody with Situmeang family name at Pertamina compound, Plaju town. “May I speak to Mr Situmeang please”, I said politely. In the other side, a women, acknowledged herself as his wife, answered curiosity :”My husband had nothing to do with someone at the Hotel”, she said in negative judgment.

The sound of Hotel leaved a bad image for housewife in Palembang ( or in a small town as well ?). This culture shocked me who spend a lot of time in business trip to a small towns when I was on the trip all over Indonesia. Housewife tend to had a bad images of Hotel environment.

                                          My family tree

I spend a while to explain in details :”Bu, I just want to ask if you know my relative address, named Barain Situmeang”, “ If he is a senior, the father of Mr.X, I knew him”, she said in a softer voice. After she is sure I told the truth, then she gave me a direction in details. “Just take a small Bus and stop at Y market and then take a beca”. To get a proper rate not necessarily negotiate with a beca driver, I asked her :“How much the beca charge”, I said. “Just pay Rp.500”, she said for sure.

Since  its early morning Sunday, I used to take an exercise with a short and tennis shoes. So I preferred to take a walk than a Bus. I spend around 40 minutes to reach Y market place. Without a negotiation, I step up in a beca to drive me near by. Just a few  minutes, I stepped down and hand him Rp. 500 bill, as a women told me previously.

For my surprise, he took the money and throw it away and he turn his beca leaved me wonder why. I told a women in a small vendor the story, why I paid him Rp.500. She told me :”Rp. 500 is a humiliation for him”, she said. The cost should be Rp.1.000”. When I want to apologized and and add more, the becak driver has gone away. This is my second surprise.

I entered a small road and find my relative house, the youngest brother of my father, I called him Bapak Uda, who lived with his son in law family. They surprised to see me show up unnoticed early Sunday morning  with a short and tennis shoes. They amused to hear my bad experience with beca driver and surprised as  well that I took an exercise by walking 40 minutes.

Palembang surprises continue with another 2 interesting stories. My relatives worry so much if I go back to Hotel alone and decided to accompany me drive a Big Bus. I asked :”What is the problem if I go alone ?. My relative said :”Many bandits in the Bus”, he said and asked me back :”Why do you used Rolex watch”. By surprised I answered plainly :“I never aware if its not save to used an expensive accessories in the public”.

The last surprises before leaving Palembang back to Jakarta, my enviroment. A Hotel  receptionist told me that my relatives called the Hotel several times, but the receptionist answered that I wasn’t available. The Hotel say the truth, I was away in my work. I really confused, really don’t understand why my relatives didn’t believe what the Hotel words.

Travel everywhere, locally in Indonesia, we may open a Phone book and find someone name that we related with us long before or have a similar family name and called them if they could located someone we knew, related or relatives.

Travel to another places locally in Indonesia even more to abroad, we should be ready for cultural changes or cultural shock and try to ajust our self and never judge the cultures, tradition of the new place.
